Rooftop solar with government subsidy.

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a Government of India scheme to help households install rooftop solar. Eligible homes receive central financial assistance (subsidy) directly in their bank account, and can generate their own clean electricity for decades.

• The applicant is an Indian citizen.
• The applicant owns a house with a roof suitable for installing solar panels.
• The household has a valid electricity connection in the applicant's name.
• The household has not availed any other subsidy for solar panels.

• ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
• ₹18,000 per kW for the third kW
• Maximum ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above

Subsidy amounts are set by the Government and may change. Grinew confirms the applicable subsidy at the time of application.

1. Register on the national PM Surya Ghar portal with your state, DISCOM and consumer number.
2. Apply for rooftop solar and receive DISCOM feasibility approval.
3. Install the system through a registered vendor.
4. Submit plant details and apply for net metering.
5. DISCOM inspection and commissioning certificate.
6. Submit bank details — the subsidy is credited to your account.

After approval, Grinew designs the system, supplies approved modules, inverter and balance-of-system, installs the structure and electricals, and tests the system for safe operation.

Once installed, a net meter is fitted by the DISCOM after inspection. The net meter records units imported and exported so you are billed only for the net units consumed.
